NHS Dental Services Portal

Access to the new Dental Services Portal, which includes your monthly pay statement and NHS Pensions information, depends on having the right email address on Compass.

NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) previously asked to check your primary email address in Compass. If you have not yet done this, you need to complete it by 11:59pm Friday 28 August 2026.

You can read the previous email in full and find guidance on how to update your email address in Compass.

Why this matters

We will use your primary email address in Compass to invite you to register for the NHS Dental Services Portal, and to send you other important information in future.

If your email address in Compass is outdated, shared, or different from the one you plan to use for the NHS Dental Services Portal and GOV.UK One Login, this may delay or prevent your access to the new system. This includes important information, such as:

  • your monthly pay statement
  • your NHS Pensions information
  • critical communications about the NHS Dental Services Portal

Check your email address in Compass is what you want to use for the NHSDSP now to avoid missing these.

Shared inboxes

Compass needs an individual email address for two reasons.

Firstly, security. The new portal uses multi-factor authentication (MFA) to keep your information safe. This means that when you log in, you’ll need to enter a code sent to your own mobile device.

Shared mailboxes don’t work with MFA. They don’t belong to one person, and they’re not linked to one person’s phone. Using a shared mailbox will be incompatible with MFA regulations and you won’t be able to complete the login step.

Second, access. Once the new NHS Dental Services Portal goes live, users of shared mailboxes will lose access to it. This includes access to your monthly pay statements and NHS Pensions information.
